The Voices of the Battle of Franklin is a driving tour through the area of Franklin which served as the battlefield on November 30, 1864. There are six stops on the tour where you will hear fifteen firsthand accounts of actual citizens and soldiers experiences on that day and how their lives were changed forever.

Visitors will meet Franklin citizens such as Carrie McGavock, Matilda Lotz and Fountain Branch Carter. You will meet soldiers from both armies and some of the military leaders including Gen. John Bell Hood and Gen. George Washington Gordon. Meet the heroic physician who worked feverishly to save confederate soldiers at Carnton Plantation’s field hospital.

You will visit the Carter House, Lotz House, Carters Hill, Collins Farm, and Carnton Plantation where the McGavock Confederate Cemetery is also located. From there you can visit the Toussaint LOverture Cemetery and hear from two former slaves.
